When the bottom of your skis, usually black, turns white and becomes less smooth, it's a sign that your skis need maintenance. At the start of the season: Do an initial maintenance as soon as winter arrives, before hitting the slopes. Spread the wax along the entire length of the ski, except for the grip zone. During the season: Reapply to both ends only every 50 to 100 kilometers, depending on the conditions in which you ski. Powder snow wears the base less than spring conditions of sticky or lumpy snow.
